  • Outdoor Time

The kids and I managed a few outdoor field trips this month.  First up we went to the Nisqually Wildlife Refuge.  It is so lovely there.  We saw deer, squirrels, an eagle, lots of birds, a grasshopper, and heard some frogs.

Today we went to Tumwater Falls Park.  It was our first time there, but definitely not our last.  It was gorgeous.  We didn't see any spawning salmon, but did see lots of gulls.  We talked about the salmon ladders and read a bit about salmon migration.  A lovely picnic next to the river was the perfect break halfway through our walk.

  • What's Going On

It's been a while since I've posted.  The kids and I have spent most of the last 3 months at my mom's house helping her with some health problems.  On one of the few days we had at home, Anneliese turned 6 and had a fairy birthday party.  Here she is in her birthday dress I sewed for her.  She wanted her hair put in curlers the night before.

We also came home for a day so she could have surgery on her eyes again.  She did great and is seeing better already.

We've been home for a couple weeks now and it's been busy, busy, busy.  We've been to the zoo, twice, and the Pacific Science Center, as well as many trips to the library and park.  My garden is growing and we've been harvesting lettuce, spinach, chard, peas, carrots and beets.  The broccoli is almost ready to harvest.

Trevor is doing great.  His imagination has exploded lately and he is always telling us stories about his trip to the future and what he has seen there.

I am really happy to be home.

  • The Longest Day Ever

And it's finally over.  It's 6:45 pm and I've been awake since 6:45 am Wednesday, with the exception of an hour nap I took this afternoon from 4 to 5 pm.  My sleep deprivation EEG is over and I should be able to get the results on Monday.  I'm really looking forward to a good sleep tonight.
